Important • Returning a device is an irreversible action. It is intended for cases in which a device will no longer receive a capability response or license file, or a server will no longer serve devices or communicate with the FlexNet Operations back office.
A customer may need to return a malfunctioning device to a manufacturer or reseller. During the return process, you have the option to move all of its licenses to a replacement device. If you do not move a license, the license is returned to the pool of unused licenses and you can allocate it to another device.
You can return a device from the default view for a device or server page.
To return a device
1. | Click Edit > Return Device/Server. The default return page for a device or server opens. |
2. | Optionally, identify the device to receive the current device’s licenses in Destination Device/License Server ID. |
• | Type the ID of the device to receive the current device’s licenses. |
• | Click the search icon to open the Find Device or Search License Servers window. |
a. | Choose a device. |
b. | Click Submit. |
The Find Device/License Servers window closes and the default destination ID page for a device or license server value is set to the device you chose.
3. | Optionally, type an RMA number for Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number. RMA number values are recorded by the Producer Portal but are not required by FlexNet Operations. |
4. | Click Confirm. |
The Producer Portal returns the device and shows its default view for a device or server page. The status of a returned device is RETURNED.
